Diego "James" Navarro is the founder of the Academy for College Excellence and a consultant who helps colleges meet the needs of disproportionately impacted students. Our work is to help faculty, staff and administrators understand issues faced by disproportionately impacted students and to develop the capacity to address them through evidence-based practices and professional development. We can help our students translate their inherent strengths in persistence, resilience and survival to their academic lives and professional careers.
We provide professional development through on-line workshops, webinars, in-person institutes (when the Pandemic ends), and classroom activities. Our approach is to:
focus on effective culture change through professional development,
employ evidence-based solutions,
promote affective/non-cognitive activities and brain-based approaches to pedagogical design, and
utilize technology to augment the role of affective learning.

We also provide on-line student-facing experiential affective-based courses. Our on-line courses have served over 60,000 students with enrollments of over 1,500 students per month.
